The "Pievaccia" is both the name of the locality and the agriturismo. The following brief history of the piace has been taken from manuscripts dated 1789. They were written by Vagnoli, a church canon, and are preserved in Pieve di Valiano.
Long before lOOOa.d. the locality belonged to the diocese of Chiusi. It was a small Christian community (pieve) dedicated to San Martino. In 1191 it is named amongst the properties that Pope Celestino the third designated to the Bishop of Chiusi. It had the only baptismal font in the zone, therefore a reference point for many people.
In 1200 it was taken over by the Camaldolesi monks. Towards the end of the 17° century it passed into the hands of the Monastery of San Secondo situated on the island of Polvese. The "move" coincided with a slow decline which led to it acquiring the present dispregiative name of "Pievaccia".

Notwithstanding the decline it aiways remained inhabited and working as a podere (farm house).
